Company Memberships are open to performers kindergarten age through high school seniors or the equivalent,

that are attending at least one weekly ballet class at their dance school/studio of choice.

Dancers who wish to audition en pointe must be in a training program with a minimum of three (3) weekly ballet technique classes, two of which will be en pointe.

Registration & Pricing

Registration typically begins 1 month before the beginning of the season for Season Company Membership and Performance Company Memberships. Season Company Members register for the entire season of performances. Performance Company Members may choose to perform in The Sugar Plum Tea Party/The Nutcracker or Brunch of Ballet/Gala Performance. If a parent volunteered during our 2023/24 season they are eligible for a 10% volunteer discount.

$600 to perform in The Sugar Plum Tea Party and The Nutcracker

$600 to perform in Brunch of Ballet and the Spring Gala “Cinderella”

$1140 for the full season

This year, instead of paying in full by auditions, CSB is splitting the membership fee into monthly installments from the month of registration through May. Parents will receive an invoice on the 10th of each month from Quickbooks Online (Intuit). They can pay as soon as they receive the invoice. Membership fees are due by the 15th of each month.

CSB production costs include choreography and coaching, sets, props, professional guest artists, handmade costumes, live accompaniment, and more.

As CSB is a non-profit, 100% of memberships are applied towards the cost of putting on CSB productions.

Placement Auditions provide our artistic staff an opportunity to observe each dancer’s current strengths and needs. Aspiring company members are appropriately cast in a role that best showcases their technique, strength, and artistry.

For Season Company Members and Performance Company Members interested in the Fall Showcase, The Nutcracker, or Gala Performance, we are so excited to hold live, in-person auditions. Please attend the Annual Parent Meeting for more information regarding what to expect during your registration, audition, and rehearsals. Check our SEASON EVENT CALENDAR for future due dates, deadlines, auditions, community engagement, events, and performances.

Placement Auditions & Casting

There will be a placement audition for each mainstage performance opportunity. Both Season Company Members and Performance Company Members participate in the placement audition for each show for which they have registered.

Auditions at Centennial State Ballet occur in a friendly and non-competitive atmosphere. There is an art to auditioning, and we believe encouraging and inspiring our performers through this process is of paramount importance.

During the auditions, participants learn to speak about themselves, pick up choreography quickly, become adaptable, and relax in a culture of community.

At auditions, it is important to speak, act, and dance in a way that shows a performer can be versatile, flexible with change, and open to the artistic process.

This season, company auditions will be held live. A video submission option is available if needed.

Roles are distributed taking into account the many different facets and treasures each dancer holds. CSB looks for strength, stamina, expressivity, musicality, a classical foundation of ballet, and performance-ready technique. The auditioner’s ability to connect steps, transfer weight, and utilize space are additional considerations in how roles are disseminated. The casting process typically takes two weeks.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are typically held on weekdays after 4 PM and on weekends. Performers rehearse 1-5 days per week, depending on casting. Rehearsals are typically held at Centennial State Ballet’s studio at 350 Terry St. until production week. Production week rehearsals and performances are held at the performance venue.

If a dancer misses more than one scheduled rehearsal, their part may be given to their understudy/alternate. More detailed information about rehearsals will be available after the cast list has been published.

Performances

Performances are held at local Longmont-area theaters including Niwot High School and Stewart Auditorium at the Longmont Museum.

Withdrawals

If a performer is unable to perform due to injury, illness, or family moving out of the area, company memberships will be refunded on a prorated basis. A dancer who needs to withdraw from the performance for any reason must fill out the withdrawal form. Please have a look at COMPANY MEMBERSHIPS for additional information.
