Placement Auditions TOP
Placement Auditions provide our artistic staff an opportunity to observe each dancer’s current strengths and needs. Aspiring company members are appropriately cast in a role that best showcases their personal technique, strength, and artistry.
For Season Company Members and Performance Company Members interested in the Fall Showcase, The Nutcracker, or Gala Performance, we are so excited to hold live, in-person auditions. Please attend the virtual Season Orientation for more information regarding what to expect during your registration, audition, and rehearsals. Check our SEASON EVENT CALENDAR for future due dates, deadlines, auditions, community engagement, events, and performances.
Placement & Casting TOP
Every effort is made to cast all eligible company member prospects. Under certain circumstances, Centennial State Ballet may be unable to cast a performer. These circumstances include, but are not necessarily limited to:
-
-
too many auditionees to physically cast in a performance
-
if, at the time of the placement audition, the dancer is unable to follow CSB’S Code of Conduct *
-
The placement and casting process typically takes two weeks after placement auditions. Casting notifications will be sent via performer CSB email. **
Centennial State Ballet placement auditions occur in a friendly and non-competitive atmosphere. There is an art to auditioning, and we believe encouraging and inspiring our performers through this process is of paramount importance. During auditions, participants learn to speak about themselves, pick up choreography quickly, become adaptable, and relax into a culture of community. At auditions, it is important to speak, act, and dance in a way that shows a performer can be versatile, flexible with change, and open to the artistic process.
Rehearsals TOP
Rehearsals are typically held weekdays after 4PM and on weekends. Performers rehearse 1-5 days per week, depending on casting. Rehearsals are typically held at Centennial State Ballet’s studio at 350 Terry St. until production week. Production week rehearsals and performances are held at the performance venue.
If a dancer misses more than one scheduled rehearsal, their part may be given to their understudy/alternate. More detailed information about rehearsals will be available after the cast list has been published.
Performances TOP
Performances are held at local Longmont-area theaters including Niwot High School and Stewart Auditorium at the Longmont Museum.
Withdrawals TOP
If a performer becomes unable to perform due to injury, illness, or family moving out of the area, company memberships will be refunded on a prorated basis. A dancer who needs to withdraw from the performance for any reason must fill out the withdrawal form. Please review COMPANY MEMBERSHIPS for additional information.
